You can save names, email addresses, phone numbers, and more in Google Contacts.
Contacts saved to your Google Account will sync with Google Contacts and all your Android devices.
Add a contact
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts.
- In the bottom right, click Create contact.
- Enter the contact's information.
- Click Save.
Import contacts
From a file
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click More
Import.
- In the window that appears, choose how you'd like to import your contacts
- Check that you saved your contacts as a .csv or .vcf file. Then click CSV or vCard file
Select file.
- Click Import.
From a Gmail account
Step 1: Export existing Gmail contacts
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts
- On the left, click More
Export.
- Select which contacts to export.
- Select Google CSV.
- Click Export.
- At the top right, click your profile picture
Sign out.
Step 2: Import the file
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts, then sign in with your other Gmail account.
- On the left, click More
Import.
- Click CSV or vCard file
Select File.
- Choose your file.
- Click Import.
Can't import my contacts
You can have problems when:
- You import more than 3,000 contacts at a time. If you have more than 3,000 contacts, split them into multiple CSVs before you import them.
- You reach the limit of 25,000 contacts. Learn about contact size limits.
- The contacts aren't formatted to work with Google Contacts. Make sure your contacts are saved as a vCard or CSV file.
Control who’s automatically saved to your contacts
If you email someone but you haven't added them as a contact, Google Contacts automatically saves their email address in your "Other Contacts" group. Their email address will show up the next time you email them.
Stop automatically saving contacts you email
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings

- In the "Create contacts for auto-complete" section, select I'll add contacts myself.
- At the bottom, click Save changes.
See "Other Contacts" you've emailed
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click More
Other Contacts.
Note: If you're on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, you won't see Other Contacts.
- On your computer, go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click More
Other Contacts.
- To select contacts, check the boxes that appear next to their names.
- In the top right, click More
Delete
Delete.
