Navigating long documents can be time-consuming and difficult. Google Docs automatically outlines your document so you can jump between sections. You can then edit the outline as necessary.


Mobile instructions

Create an outline of a document

  1. In the Docs app, open a document.
  2. Tap More > Document outline.
  3. (Optional) To jump to a heading, tap it in the outline. For documents with 3 or more headings, you can scroll through the document. Then, on the right, tap the bar with arrows and tap a heading to jump to it.
